Premier Surgical Vein Clinics is excited to welcome our newest team member, Angie Jacobs, RN. She has joined the team as a Sclerotherapy Specialist.
Angie grew up in Ohio where she attended both high-school and nursing school. A nurse of 23 years, she has been passionate about the profession from a young age. As a child, she volunteered at a nursing home in Ohio where her mother worked as a nurse.
Angie has been in Knoxville for 15 years. She started her career in East Tennessee as an Emergency Room Nurse. After working as an ER Nurse for over 20 years, she felt it was time for a change. Her passion for Sclerotherapy began when she had the procedure done herself. Angie says she has always been interested in veins and skin, and after having Sclerotherapy she knew it was something that she wanted to pursue.
Sclerotherapy is a non-invasive procedure that uses a liquid chemical to close off a varicose vein, and is typically for the treatment of small spider and varicose veins.. The chemical is injected into the vein, causing the vein to collapse and gradually fade away. Sclerotherapy is a relatively painless procedure that is performed in-office and takes less than an hour. The number of treatments needed depends on the severity of the spider or small varicose veins.
After speaking with Angie, it is easy to tell that she is passionate about the work she is doing at Premier Surgical Vein Clinics. She stresses the importance of patient education and relationships. She knows that helping patients better understand the procedure they are to undergo can also help them feel more at-ease.
“I am extremely passionate about Sclerotherapy and take my job very serious. I am very fortunate to specialize in a field that allows me the opportunity to treat both the physical and visual symptoms associated with spider and varicose veins. I feel it important to develop a trustworthy relationship with each of my patients. This allows the patient to feel confident and satisfied with the treatment that I provide.”
As a Sclerotherapy Specialist, Angie works to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for each patient with a goal of decreasing the physical symptoms as well as improving the visual appearance of the legs. She loves that her job allows her to patients to experience a boost of confidence after treatment.
“For me, my job does not feel like work. It is exciting, fun and very rewarding. I look forward to many years helping patients and doing what I love!”
